In partnership with speakers and experts with whom we have worked over many years we have developed a number of event experiences in the areas of performance management, relationship management and wellbeing. These offer tried and tested solutions which can be tailored to a particular brief.
Getting the Edge
Getting the Edge is a one day event which challenges senior groups with leading edge ideas around the central theme of performance and the factors that enable people to perform at their optimum.
We combine the expertise and insights from leading experts, personalities and elite performers who can inspire, educate and motivate around core themes that are proving to be highly topical for many of our clients. These themes are tailored to each client but typically include:
- risk and decision making
- communication and body language
- performance under pressure
- physical and mental wellbeing
We have brought together different combinations of the following speakers to deliver the day, according to the particular angle the client wishes to take:
- Caspar Berry's central theme is to give people a better understanding of how risk and uncertainty work, using poker as metaphor, in order to empower them to take more calculated risks and more effective decisions and thereby “get the edge”.
- James Cracknell knows more than most about the factors required to “get the edge” and perform at the optimum. His personal story of sporting achievement offers great food for thought in terms of the physical, mental, and emotional factors that affect our ability to achieve and to handle the pressures of the performance situation.
- Alan Chambers offers a highly motivational perspective on the nature of leadership and teamwork in conditions of extreme adversity and high risk where the right decision can be the difference between life and death.
- Dr. Dorian Dugmore is a leading authority on the impact of risk factors in cardiovascular disease. Dorian looks at the general issue of wellness both inside and outside of work and in particular focusing on the importance of managing risk factors and the possible impact if we don’t.
- Dave Alred’s expertise comes from the world of sport. A world leading kicking coach Dave believes the most fundamental change over the last five years has been looking at mental preparation; trying to ensure players always perform at, or very near their potential, whatever the levels of interference. He inspires leaders to see how they can to prepare themselves and those they manage to more effectively perform under the pressures of today’s workplace.

WellGoal Workshop
- Picking up on the increasingly significant issue of wellness Frank Dick, explores a core belief in this workshop – the notion of the three-lane motorway. The outside lane is your work life, the middle lane is your family, friends, social and community life and then you have the critical inside lane – which is you! These lanes are interdependent and the trick is to keep each one running smoothly allowing equal attention to each of them. The fact is that too many people don’t enter the inside lane unless they have run out of gas. By that point all three lanes are affected and close down.
- Participants take part in an on-line lifestyle system check prior to the event and receive a personalised picture of their wellbeing together with coaching advice at the event itself. Frank also takes a close look at regeneration and recovery on the move.
- Other guest experts and personalities have joined the event to bring their perspective – for example top chef Michel Roux junior tells his fascinating life story and offers advice on food and nutrition. Martin Johnson, CBE shares his story of England Rugby’s World Cup success and in particular the mental and physical fitness required to perform at the limit.
“I believe that this experience will change me, the way I think and all my goals for my future – thank you.”

Know Your Numbers with Dr. Dorian Dugmore
- For organisations who want to take an in depth look at the issue of wellbeing, regeneration and physical and mental fitness we have teamed up with Dr. Dorian Dugmore of Wellness International. Based in the world leading spa centre of Pennyhill Park this experience not only provides individuals with a complete personalised health check, but offers strategies, advice and follow up testing to support people in dealing with or avoiding potential health risks, including heart disease, cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes.
- The Pennyhill Park experience is all about “upstream medicine” rather than “downstream health checks”. It’s a proactive step to empower individuals with the knowledge and motivation to make lifestyle changes that will improve the quality of their lives.
Caspar Berry Poker Evening
- Not only is poker easy to learn it is also tremendous fun as attested by the recent explosion in the game’s popularity. Caspar delivers a stand alone poker evening as part of a broader conference or event or as a pre and post dinner entertainment package. The duration of a poker game should be proportionate to numbers and can last from 90 minutes for small groups to three hours for groups of 100. While this may seem like a long time… it flies by!
- Some people are initially worried that poker might not be suitable for certain members of their team or perhaps the organisation they represent. In four years of delivering poker sessions to thousands of people in private, public and charitable sectors, Caspar has not had one person who has so far been less than enthralled, let alone offended by the prospect of learning the game.
- Caspar provides a pre-dinner input which is a combination of a short entertaining chat about his life, Vegas and poker followed by a poker lesson which takes around 40 minutes and where guests learn the basics of poker in a non competitive situation. This provides a great talking point over dinner and is followed by competitive match play post dinner where a winner finally emerges. Prizes can be awarded to the winner for example a poker set or champagne.
- Professional dealers create the right environment and what makes this poker evening really engaging is the way Caspar is on hand to coach, advise and build the atmosphere with the guests as they enjoy the evening’s entertainment. The game becomes so absorbing that guests often play through to the small hours of the morning and we have found that the friendly, competitive nature of the experience is a great way to find out more about colleagues and build camaraderie amongst groups.
A Sense of Place with Michel Roux Jr & Bryan Gorin
- This event offers a unique dining experience. It combines the talents of top chef Michel Roux Jr with a spectacular London venue, Altitude and the fascinating insights of a charming London “enthusiast” – Bryan Gorin.
- Altitude Broadcasting and Corporate Studios, with its 360 panoramic views across the city, provides the perfect backdrop to an evening with Bryan Gorin. Bryan has had a unique career as a historian, London city blue badge holder and black cab driver. He has a unique style and amazing knowledge of London’s history and cultures. He shares stories and quirky facts with guests about the London skyline which they can see from the wonderful views they have at the top of this great venue.
- Michel Roux Jr, head chef at Le Gavroche and son of Michel Roux, provides the culinary skill and expertise. Guests enjoy a menu, chosen and prepared by Michel, who also chats with guests between courses about the seasonal produce and his life experiences living in both London and France.
- This is a fabulously, relaxed and special evening. Michel and Bryan are entertaining hosts who create a highly memorable occasion.

Celebrity Master Chef with Matt Dawson
- For this event we bring together two passions that are often highlighted by our guests – sport and food.
- As winner of Celebrity Master Chef 2006 Matt Dawson demonstrated that his talents and commitment to succeed were just as evident off the Rugby field as they were during the 2003 Rugby World Cup final.
- During this event Matt demonstrates his culinary skills, planning the menu in consultation with the main guest as well as hosting the dinner, talking about his menu choices and the way in which he developed his cooking expertise during Celebrity Master Chef.
- Of course, since Rugby, Matt has gone on to develop his talents in many areas. He is a familiar face as team captain on BBC’s Question of Sport and was runner up in Celebrity Come Dancing; an experience which he says has been one of the most challenging things he has ever achieved.
- Currently as a broadcaster with Radio 5 Live, he combines his huge amount of experience and sporting knowledge with his fascination for analysing situations and finding out what makes people tick.
- Matt’s personal experience as an elite athlete means the he can really get under the skin of what motivates today’s top sports men and women. During the event Matt is on hand to chat and share anecdotes creating a humorous and entertaining experience for food and sport lovers alike.
